Iron Numbers
Black marker, body

Before going out into the field the soldiers are counted by calling out the ‘Iron Numbers’ which are recorded on their arms. As an army medic, Amrani went out and returned to the field many times, leaving dozens of numbers on his arms which were replaced with new ones. This short video work describes the wiping of the identity granted by the number, the hope that the provided number will be a “lucky number” and the desire to repress and to forget the difficult experiences while at the same time commemorating them with live footage.
